At first sight they may look like just another regular G-SHOCK watch in a range of typically G-SHOCKING colours, but look a little closer and you will see a small email symbol and 'Bluetooth' at the base of the dial. That’s because the newly released GB-6900B/GB-X6900B shock-resistant watches support Bluetooth® v4.0 with low energy wireless technology. This enables the G-SHOCK to pair with a smartphone to control a smartphone music player from the watch, or adjust watch settings from a smartphone.
Last year, Casio G-SHOCK released the GB-5600AA and GB-6900AA watches that can communicate with an iPhone or AndroidTM smartphone, giving them the ability for features such as an audible, vibration and display notification on the watch when there is an incoming call or email, as well as auto synchronisation to time data received from a paired smartphone. These caught the attention of G-SHOCK fans so successfully that the decision was made to continue with the next-generation technology timepieces.
The new watches just released add to the previous features, by offering richer, two-way operability with a smartphone, A button on the watch can be used to operate smartphone applications, and a paired smartphone can be used to set features on the watch, such as the alarm, Countdown Timer and World Time
This is G-SHOCK's brilliant answer to smartwatches, cleverly partnering their legendary watches with your favourite smart phone device. The new GB-6900B takes its design inspiration from the classic and much loved G-SHOCK DW-6900, while the GB-X6900B while having a bigger watchcase to emphasise toughness, is also influenced by the design of the DW-6900. Both of these new models come in three colourways, blue, red and can’t beat it black.
