Il Leroy 01 dal 1900 al 1989 è stato l'orologio (da tasca) più complicato al mondo con 25 complicazioni. Founded in Paris in 1785, L. Leroy has written important pages in the history of watchmaking and chronometry.
Appointed official watchmaker to the Naval Ministry in 1835, L.Leroy held this prestigious title (until it disappeared) for longer than any other company in this field. The company produced more than 2,200 chronometers of all types dedicated to precision time keeping at sea before the introduction of radio-controlled and computer clocks.
Marie-Antoinette, Proust, Matisse, Napoleon, Queen Victoria, Roosevelt, Chopin, Nobel, Bugatti, aviation pioneers Charles Lindbergh and Santos-Dumont are just some of the illustrious owners of a watch manufactured by L.Leroy.
A remarkable achievement, the Leroy 01 won the Grand Prix Spécial du Jury at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900 and, with its 25 horological complications, remained the most complicated watch until 1989, nearly a century.
Winner of a record 384 gold medals in chronometry competitions during its history, last year Leroy received the First Prize in the Tourbillon category in the Third International Chronometry Competition with its Osmior Tourbillon Régulateur model.
The new Marine Deck Chronometer, in line with the tradition of L. Leroy, has been inspired by the famous deck chronometers used by sailors to check the time indicated by the on-board chronometer.
The 43 mm case, available in pink or white gold, has a total thickness of 12.30 mm. Thanks to the screw-down safety crown, the watch is water resistant to 100 metres (10atm).
Each dial, featuring large seconds and power reserve indicators, is engine-turned by hand and enriched by blued steel or gilded hands.
The movement, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, adopts a lever escapement in silicon and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. The hand-chamfered bridges are enhanced with a "grainé-champlevé" finishing and raised mirror-polished markings. The central rotor in 22 carat gold is skeletonized.
The L. Leroy Marine Deck Chronometer is available in several dial and straps variations.
Each piece is individually numbered and delivered with the official chronometer certificate of the National Observatory of Besançon. Prices range between Euro 24,700 and Euro 25,700 depending on the version.
