Altro tributo Longines ad un suo orologio "militare" creato per l'esercito britannico nel 1949. La cassa in acciaio ha le stesse caratteristiche dell'originale: 44 mm di diametro e gabbia interna in ferro dolce. Indicazione di un secondo fuso al centro. Automatico base ETA 28.800 A/h. 48 ore di riserva di carica.

Longines continues to seek inspiration from watches of the past and in particular, for its Heritage collection, from military-style models. The latest addition is the Longines Avigation which is based on the design of a model produced for the British army first introduced in 1949.

Just like the original, the Avigation features a large steel case with a diameter of 44 mm which houses a movement encased in a soft iron plate and dome which protect it from the effects of magnetic fields. The case offers water resistance to 30 metres. The automatic calibre L704 (based on the ETA A07 171) shows the hours, minutes, seconds and date, as well as having a 24-hour second time-scale. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 48 hours.

The black lacquered dial – typical of military timepieces – features white and red numerals coated with Super-LumiNova with a distinctive "broad arrow" sign which was used in the United Kingdom to denote government property, in this case military equipment used by the British Army. The Longines Avigation (ref. L2.831.4.53.x) is fitted on a black alligator strap with a buckle.

visto così non sembra male, forse un po' troppo grande
ma se si rifà a un vecchio modello militare con le stesse dimensioni i 44 mm hanno un loro perché...
ma i 1600 euro di costo hanno un loro perché?
