The Richard Lange collection of A. Lange and Sohne is dedicated to Ferdinand A. Lange’s son, a great watchmaker with a scientific turn of mind who registered a number of patents that furthered the development of Lange timepieces.
Previously available only in platinum and pink gold, the Richard Lange Tourbillon "Pour le Mérite", a complication watch that unites A. Lange & Söhne’s unique fusée-and-chain transmission and a one-minute tourbillon with a patented stop-seconds mechanism, is being introduced in a white-gold version with blued steel hands and blue minutes scale markers for perfect legibility on the argenté-coloured solid-silver dial. This version will be available only in A. Lange & Söhne boutiques, including those in New York and Moscow that just opened this month.
Since the presentation of its first new-era watch collection 20 years ago, the "Pour le Mérite" hallmark has been assigned by A. Lange and Sohne to just four extraordinary timepieces, all of them integrating the fusée-and-chain transmission, which in this model is exposed through the apertures in the three-quarter plate.
The owner can observe how the intricate 636-part chain unwinds from the mainspring barrel onto the fusée while the watch is being wound.
The fusée-and-chain transmission is one of the most effective complications when it comes to increasing the rate accuracy of a mechanical watch. In fact, the power generated by a spring is high when it is fully tensioned and significantly weaker as it nears the fully unwound state. This can cause rate-accuracy fluctuations. The fusée-and-chain transmission equalises the waning force of the gradually relaxing mainspring and makes sure that the movement always receives a constant amount of energy.
The one-minute tourbillon for best rate stability features a sophisticated stop-seconds mechanism which makes it possible to instantaneously block the balance inside the tourbillon cage and thus stop the movement simply by pulling the crown. This allows the watch to be set to one-second accuracy.
Additionally, the Richard Lange Tourbillon "Pour le Mérite" surprises with an innovative and also patented pivoting dial segment: from 6 to 12 o’clock, a small auxiliary dial fills the gap in the hour circle, which at all other times exposes the fascinating tourbillon.
The regulator dial shows the time indications with separate displays, a layout directly inspired by Chronometer No. 93 crafted by Dresden watchmaker Johann Heinrich Seyffert (1751–1818).
The white gold case of the new Richard Lange Tourbillon "Pour le Mérite" (ref. 760.026) has a diameter of 41.9 millimetres and a height of 12.2 millimeters. The price is US$ 212,900 / Euro 171,900.

A quel che so, la trasmissione a catena ha condizionato parecchio il contenimento delle dimensioni. Ho potuto vederlo al polso e non mi pare troppo grosso. In oro bianco è perfetto: meno pesante del platino, più discreto dell'oro rosa.

dato che in un mio vecchio post (non qui....) definii la referenza in oro rosa, che continuo a preferire e che scopro ancora oggi quotata tra i 130 000 e i 200 000 euro, come "uno dei migliori prodotti [nell'ambito degli orologi con tourbillon] sotto la soglia dei 200.000 euro", sono felice di poter rinnovare questa mia affermazione per quest'altra referenza, che però mi dà un maggior senso di vuoto a livello del design, comunque fantastico, del quadrante, condiviso pure dalla variante "Terraluna".
