Following more than 40 years of successful collaboration with renowned watchmakers like IWC and Eterna, Porsche Design just presented the Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 and Porsche Design Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition models.
These two automatic chronographs are the first Porsche Design timepieces to be developed completely in-house, and more precisely by Porsche Design Timepieces AG based in Solothurn (Switzerland). They have also been manufactured in Switzerland.
The guidelines that drove the design of these watches are readability, technical excellence, quality materials and functionality. Fully embracing the design principles of founder Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the shapes of these watches derive from the functionality, nothing is added just for decoration.
Both timepieces feature cases made from bead-blasted titanium, with a diameter of 42 millimetres. The black case of the Timepiece No. 1 is not painted, but is instead coated using a special procedure to make the matt black finish more durable. They are waterproof down to a depth of 50 metres (5 ATM).
The hands and bar indices are filled with white luminescent material so that the large dial is as clear as possible even in poor light conditions. The white lettering also contrasts with the matt black galvanic dial. The red chronograph seconds hand stands out and enhances the sporty look of the timepieces. The date is displayed at 3 o'clock.
Both models are equipped with a reliable and COSC-certified Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of 48 hours. The blackened sapphire crystal case back displays the movement with the energy-optimised Porsche Design rotor.
The Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 is fitted with a black rubber strap while the Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition with a black calf leather strap.
Each of the new watch models is limited to 500 units. They will be available from November in Porsche Design Stores worldwide and from specialist retailers. Prices: 5,450 Euro for the Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 (ref. 6011.13.406.814) and 4,950 Euro for the Porsche Design Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition(6011.10.406.113).
