Di solito non amo commentare orologi che non ho ma mi sono imbattuto in questo Precista la cui storia ed il cui ex-proprietario mi paiono interessanti.
Si tratta di questo orologio:
un Precista 1989 al quarzo così marcato sul fondello: 6645-99-757-3314 2289/89. L'orologio è descritto anche a pagina 296 del Galizia.
Si tratta di un assegnato ai reparti di sommozzatori con compiti EOD dell'esercito/marina inglese nella seconda metà degli anni'80. Da notare l'assenza del codice W10.
L'ex proprietario così racconta:CITAZIONEI have had this for many years; a Royal Navy Clearance Diver who was on the same course, which qualified me to conduct Counter Terrorist Bomb Disposal Duties on the UK mainland, gave it to me. It was worn whilst dealing with my first IED many years ago, it was worn whilst dealing with my last IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) and it was worn until the 25 February 2011, which was my last ever day on Bomb Disposal Duty before I retired from the British Army.
I’ve been around a bit – the watch even survived the Arctic Warfare Training I conducted – the watch survived temperatures of -36c in the Arctic Circle
Interessante il fatto che a quelle temperature il quarzo non sembrerebbe aver avuto malfunzionamenti. Da uno scambio di corrispondenza è emerso che successivamente:CITAZIONEFor the last 3 years I have been working in Afghanistan teaching the afghan army and police how to do IEDD. I worked over in the west Herat, in Camp Stone. The west is the main area covers by the Italian military. I worked along side Italian army (Carabinieri Artificieri) EOD units (Explosive Ordnance Disposal).
e che durante questo "lavoro" ha utilizzato anche un TAG-Heuer Professional 1000 meters Quartz, referenza 980.023, che ho poi acquistato da lui (per motivi che esulano ovviamente da eventuali contenuti "militari"):
Una ricerca condotta su un noto sito ha confermato la "carriera" militare e l'attuale attività di contractor istruttore EOD.
Un "militare" come il Precista ed un "civile" come il TAG, prestati ad un lavoro così delicato e particolare (mi viene in mente il bel film "The Hurt Locker"), si meritavano qualche parola.
