| CITAZIONE (Atelier de Chronometrie @ 4/11/2020, 17:29) Many thanks!!! Yes, the idea was to create a new rattrapante calibre taking the Venus 185 as a base. This donor movement comes from a Telda chronograph from the 40's. Regarding your questions, we use a free sprung balance with a new old stock hairspring made of Invar. The balance wheel is made of Titanium and regulated by 6 18k pink gold "masselottes", the balance stud holder is made of steel and the anchor bridge is made of steel too.
All this pieces and many others have been completely "handmade" with traditional machines ( 8mm lathe machines, etc.) and tools without the use of CNC machines and decorated by hand too (anglage, polished countersinks, black polish, etc.). Hope you find this information helpful.

Did you recorded the performance of the watch with a timegrapher? I'm very interested in understanding how a modern intertially-regulated balance wheel with an ancient Invar free hairspring works into an hystoric ebauche.
I guess: is also the case the original one from Telda? |

| Hi Karel, nice to see young men with fresh technology background joining the world of watchmaking. I approached 3D printing world in late 90s with early SL machines and I always follow the roaring improvements of these technologies. I appreciate the will to let parts "rough as from the machine", it is a signature from the process almost unique for each part. May be not anyone in this forum knows the meaning of the words "lattice structures" you speak about in your site. I encourage you to explain it to all passionates here.
I've a strictly technical question for you: why did you choose MBJ instead of SLS technology? |

Questo fu "l'inizio della fine" di circa 5 anni di lavori di approfondimento notturno sulla cronometria....
Spero di trovare tempo per interagire, ho mille domande che mi frullano in testa.... ma per il momento aggiungo un po' di lavoro sui cuscinetti a sfera.
Tema: i cuscinetti a sfera dei rotori e dei micro rotori negli orologi automatici.
Prima domanda: poche sfere o tante sfere? pro e contro nei rotori classici, nei microrotori e nei rotori periferici, che amo particolarmente.
Seconda domanda: acciaio o ceramica?
Terza domanda: lubrificazione, esistono rotori con cuscinetti a secco?
Quarta domanda: quanto il cuscinetto del rotore influisce sull'angolo di frenaggio?
Poi smetto altrimenti monopolizzo... |

I am a fan of FPJ creations. The Centigraphe Sport is my personal dream, close to be the "exit watch". It's technical, original, and gives a crazy "low profile feel". The skeletonized subdials show the patented mechanical masterpieces normally hidden under the dial. It takes time to understand the functioning, even after reading the patent...
And it is still "human" in case size.
As you can see I've a small wrist and the 44 mm case of the new Rattrapante hardly fits...

| | Hello Santiago! what a wonderful interpretation of the split second tradition! As it seems to me, the base movement is a Venus 185 whit many different details. I like very much the effort to let the column wheel of split second function free to the sight, switching the bridge in a space that is normally housing the chronographic seconds engaging lever. And the lever is also elevated to superior levels. I think all other fellows who like cronographs will be glad to see and listen from you details about all other areas of the caliber, like the balance wheel, hairspring, stud and pallet lever bridge.
